Year 3 Topic: The Romans - Gladiators
This cross-curricular topic lesson looks at Roman Gladiators. Previously children had done some work in guided reading and have an understanding of roman soldiers. Now they learn more about gladiators lives and consider what would make the perfect gladiator. Finally they start work on a gladiator fact file of their own.

Year 4 Literacy: Dragons - writing a setting description
The topic is dragons and the class are looking at stories about imagined worlds. In the lead up to this session, children have done several drama-based activities, such as a dragon hunt and investigating habitats.

Year 4 Science - Sound

The aim of this session is to establish what children already know about sound, what misconceptions they may have, and identify gaps in their knowledge. This allows teachers to effectively plan lessons around the topic.

How to write an effective limerick. The theme of the term is the Victorians.

Year 6 Maths: Percentage
The topic of this year 6 set is solving percentage problems looking at increasing and decreasing figures. In this fast-paced revision and consolidation pre-SATs lesson, pupils are constantly challenged.

Year 6 Science: Melting - interpreting results
Each of the year 6 children in this class have set up their own investigation into the melting of ice. This lesson focus is on interpreting results and discovering how these can be described clearly. This skill will be used when the students conduct their own practical experiments in future lessons.
